The Marsh Shallow Ensign 16 is a shallow-dig sewage treatment plant that complies with BS EN 12566-3. It is ideal for excavating in hard rock or in difficult digging conditions. At only 1600mm in height, this plant can result in an installation/excavation cost savings of between 20% and 50% compared to other treatment plants on the market.

With a population equivalent of 16, this treatment plant is suitable for dwellings with up to and including 2 x 4 bedrooms & 1 x 3 bedroom properties. In a workplace situation (without a canteen), it can accommodate up to 25 people. 

The Shallow Ensign is easy to install, reliable, and cost-effective for ongoing operation and maintenance.

The plant works initially by anaerobic digestion in the primary chamber, then aeration in the second chamber, where diffused air and mobile filter media ensure full treatment before the treated water flows to the final settlement chamber. The final effluent is then discharged to a drainage field or watercourse.
