Vent caps are used to let a oil tank breathe. The oil inside a tank expands and contracts due to temperature change, the vent cap allows the tank to do this safely without damage. Also, air is expelled through the vent when the tank is filled. Over time vents can become damaged allowing water or moisture into the tank (along with other debris like leaves and even the odd earwig!). In this section, we have a number of vents which suit the majority of oil and diesel tanks.
If the vent has been missing or broken for some time, we recommend checking the tank for water by using water finding paste.
