If you have lost a fill cap or vent cap it is likely that some amount of rainwater may have entered the tank, we would recommend that you also purchase a tube of water finding paste and check the oil in your tank as peace of mind. If too much water has entered the tank and it goes undetected it can cause inconvenient and costly boiler breakdowns.
