Septic Tanks for Sale

A septic tank is usually sited underground and made of precast concrete, fibreglass, or plastic. They’re used to handle sewage, treating the wastewater, and storing solid waste. When there’s no access to the mains, the first port of call should be one of these. They connect to a soakaway instead.

All of our septic tanks meet the required regulations and are manufactured with longevity in mind. Our systems follow water quality codes of practice with well-known brands like Clearwater, Klargester, GRAF and Tricel in the range.

We also have supporting products, like sewage treatment plans, to help you dispose of your wastewater.

If your home or business uses a septic tank, you’ll need to register with the Environmental Agency. You’re also solely responsible for maintaining it. But we have advice across our site and the team are on hand to help with your specifications.

Septic Tank Maintenance

In a septic tank, the solids must be naturally broken down so you can treat the remaining effluent. It’s then safe to discharge into the ground via a soakaway. Tanks for Everything can give you the means to safely store and deal with this waste.

Our products are the highest quality. Better yet, they’re affordable. The tanks we have are designed to suit different needs and budgets.

Below we've also listed some of our helpful blogs on Septic Tanks:

FAQs

How Do Septic Tanks Work?

Waste enters the tank via the inlet pipe. The heaviest components sink to the bottom, while the lightest float. The effluent is between these two layers. As more liquid enters the tank, it’ll be pushed through the outlet into a closed network of perforated pipes. After this, the effluent’s filtered through the bed and into the soil below.

How Often Should I Empty My Septic System?

We recommend that a septic tank is emptied every 6 – 12 months. More people means more often though - if it’s used frequently, it might also need to be done sooner.

Where Should I Put My Septic Tank?

Your septic tank should be somewhere fairly flat and with little risk of flooding. We don’t advise siting them near steep inclines, tree roots, utility lines or other plumbing. They also need to be at least seven feet away from any property.

What Can’t Go in a Septic Tank?

Nappies, cigarettes, cat litter and plastic. There are things that just shouldn’t go down a toilet as they can easily block the system. Disposing of food and cooking oils is also ill advised. Things like fat can cause a faster build-up of sludge inside the system.

Can You Tell When Your Septic Tank is Full?

A telltale sign that a septic tank needs emptying is standing water near the soakaway that has a rather distinctive smell. Gurgling coming from the pipes and clouds of flies/midges can also point to it reaching capacity.

How Long Do Septic Tanks Last?

Septic tanks can last up to 40 years, you shouldn’t need to replace it before 15 have passed.

Do Septic Systems Need to Be Serviced?

Yes, every 3 to 5 years. Otherwise, there’s little maintenance needed. A service usually involves emptying the contents through pumping.

Do Septic Tanks Need a Permit?

You’ll need planning permission from your local council to install a septic tank. Failing to get it could mean a fine of £150,000 heading your way.

What Are the 2 Shapes of Septic Tank?

You can either buy an onion or a shallow dig septic tank. Shallow dig tanks need a smaller hole dug and are easier to install than onion shaped tanks. Onion shaped tanks need to be concreted in once installed. We stock both options.
