A septic tank consists of a two or three chamber system that retains sewage from a property for sufficient time to allow the solids to form into sludge at the base of the tank, where it is partially broken down through anaerobic digestion. The remaining liquid in the tank then overflows from the tank by the means of an outlet pipe to a drainage field.
All septic tanks should be installed in non-traffic areas.

Many tanks are supplied from stock - however sometimes a tank will be supplied direct from the manufacturer and in this instance it will be delivered on a 45' articulated vehicle to the kerbside, the offloading of the tank is your resonsibilty and you should arrange for the tank to be delivered to a suitable premises with off load facilities.
