Fire valves are an important safety device fitted as part of an oil appliance installation. Apart from the Fusible Head Valve which is often used as an isolator by the appliance, all other valves are fitted on the outside of the property with a phial and copper capillary being positioned above the burner or inside the appliance (in accordance with the appliance manufacturers instructions). The length of the capillary is determined by calculating the distance between the outside wall and the phial position inside the appliance. Any excess capillary is usually coiled up outside the property.
