What Is A Cesspool?
A Cesspool (or cesspit) is purely a holding tank without an outlet - there is no intent to treat or discharge the sewage or waste held in the cesspool. The contents of a cesspool or cesspit need to be either tankered away or pumped out. There is no processing or treatment involved. A cesspit is usually located underground with a manhole cover giving access for waste collection. Cesspools can also be used for the storage of non-potable water (rainwater or firefighting storage). Cesspools are NOT suitable for the storage of water intended for human consumption (potable water) for these tanks see our underground potable water tanks.
Unless GRP Cesspools are fitted with a liner, they are NOT suitable for the storage of Silage, Elsan, Chemical Toilet or Dog waste.
